Terms of Service

Decode File gives you a complete analysis of important documents before you sign or rely on them. It is not legal, financial, employment, tax, or regulated insurance advice. The terms below govern your use of the product.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Decode File, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What Decode File is — and isn't

  • What it is: a tool that extracts and explains provisions of a document you upload, highlights common clauses or terms to watch for, and lets you ask questions about what the document says. Supported categories include insurance policies, employment offer letters, NDAs, legal documents, and related PDFs.
  • What it isn't: legal, financial, employment, tax, or regulated insurance advisory advice. We are not an IRDAI-registered insurance broker, agent, or advisor. The output of the product is informational, not a recommendation to sign, buy, keep, switch, claim on, or rely on any document or policy.

Always verify final terms directly with the issuing party and, where needed, with a qualified professional.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.
  • You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure, since that is how we authenticate you.
  • You may not share your account, impersonate another person, or create accounts using someone else's information.

4. Plans and payments

Free plan

  • Includes one decoded document, your clarity score, and access to the preview Q&A.
  • Additional uploads are blocked until you upgrade.

Premium plan (₹999 for 1 year)

  • Up to 500 completed decoded documents during the paid year.
  • Full clause-by-clause report.
  • Ask anything about your document (subject to a daily fair-use cap).
  • Download of the original PDF and the report PDF.
  • Priority triage on urgent feedback.

Payments are processed by our payment provider. Prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Premium is currently sold as a one-time annual charge; it does not auto-renew. Once 500 completed documents are used or the paid year ends, new uploads are blocked until you pay again. We will email you before your access expires so you can renew manually.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload files you do not have the right to share, or that contain another person's private information without their consent.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or disrupt the service or its providers.
  • Use the product to harass, defame, or harm any person or organisation.
  • Scrape outputs or wrap the product in a competing service without written permission.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. In serious cases we may report the activity to the relevant authorities.

6. Intellectual property

  • You retain all rights to the documents you upload.
  • You grant us a limited licence to process those documents solely to provide the service (parse text, generate a decode, store them in your account, return them to you on request).
  • The design, code, copy, and decoded-report format of Policy Decoder / Decode File remain our intellectual property.

7. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Material changes that affect paying customers will be communicated by email.

8. Refunds and cancellation

Refund terms are described on our Refund Policy page. You can stop using the product at any time; since Premium does not auto-renew, no separate cancellation step is needed.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Decode File is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the output is error-free or complete. Contracts, employment letters, and insurance policies can be complex; we encourage you to cross-check every material detail against the source document before taking action.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages (including lost profits, missed claims payouts, employment consequences, or reputational harm).

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Decode File harmless from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of the service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

  • You can delete your account at any time from the product settings or by emailing us.
  • We can suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, with written notice where reasonably possible.
  • On termination, we will delete your data per our Privacy Policy, except where we are legally required to retain it.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute not resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will reflect when the most recent change took effect. If the change is material for paying customers, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before it takes effect.
